Admissions open for session 2022-23
Admission Open – The Open School enrolls students year-round. Think we might be the right school for your family? Start by following the steps below.
Step 1: Submit an Admissions Inquiry
Admission Open – The first step in applying to The Open School is submitting an Admissions Inquiry by clicking the button below. Once you’ve submitted it, we’ll get in touch with you and send you a school prospectus. While you wait, you can learn more about our school by reading about our in-person program or our virtual program.
Step 2: Admissions Meeting
After you’ve received the prospectus, we will get in touch with you to schedule a meeting with an Admissions Coordinator. For our virtual families, this “visit” will be via video chat. For local families, we may either have an in-person or virtual meeting, depending on the current state of the pandemic.
It’s important that you’ve read the school prospectus before we have this meeting, because The Open School is very different from typical schools, and we want to make sure we’re on the same page to ensure the meeting is productive. All parents and/or guardians (even non-custodial) should attend an Admissions Meeting if possible, whether together or in separate visits.
What happens once you’re enrolled?
Admission Open -Start attending school, of course! The first 4 weeks of school are called the Practice Period, a time to settle in and make sure there is a good fit between the school, the student, and the family. We will hold two “check-in” meetings during the Practice Period where we will ask the parents and student to provide feedback. The school representative will provide feedback as well. If, during the Practice Period, the school or the family determines that it is not a good fit, either party can end the enrollment contract. Usually there are no concerns and the family continues seamlessly into enrollment.
For students in our Virtual Program, the first month consists of technology onboarding and training, opportunities to meet all of the other students, and attending student-hosted events without the requirement to plan their own events.ad
